This gothic-inspired design showcases a dramatic close-up of a nun holding a cold steel blade to her tongue. Strong highlights map her face while stark shadows divide her expressions. The dark black background emphasizes the crisp white of her habit and the deep red splatters marking her collar, establishing a tense, cinematic mood with a limited but high-contrast palette.

Working on this 40x50 canvas provides an engaging, relaxing painting project. With a medium difficulty rating, the composition guides you through smooth skin gradients and sharp, clean lines on the metallic knife. As you paint this vertical portrait, you will watch the shadowy folds of the habit and subtle facial contours build into a striking piece of DIY wall art.

  • Features a bold, dramatic portrait of a nun with a metallic blade and dark, high-contrast shadows.
  • Offers an engaging, medium difficulty project that provides a satisfying painting pace for hobbyists.

Why it quiets your mind

  • You stay focused

Simple enough that you never get confused, but it still holds your attention.

  • The steady rhythm calms you

Repeated motion slows you down, much like slow, deep breathing.

  • Something to do instead of scrolling

Your hands are busy, so your phone stays down.

  • You make something real

Progress you can see, and a painting you can hang.

FAQ

Yes, you’ll have enough paint to complete your project.

If you happen to run out, simply email support@artspark.co, and we’ll send you additional paint free of charge, for three months after your kit arrives.

The main difference between "Rolled Canvas" and "Framed Canvas" is how the canvas is prepared for painting and display:

Rolled Canvas: This option includes a rolled linen canvas, which means you won’t need to iron out any creases, unlike other paint-by-number kits. It’s ideal if you don’t plan to hang the painting and prefer a more flexible setup.

Framed Canvas: Choose this option if you plan to frame and hang your artwork.

Plus, you get extra benefits:
Around 40% cheaper than local framing services
Much easier painting experience
High-quality oak wood frame.

Most colors provide full coverage; however, some lighter shades may require a second coat to fully cover the lines and numbers.

We recommend allowing the first coat to dry before applying a second if needed for the best results.

Not at all! In fact, 83% of our customers had never painted before, and their results turned out amazing.

Just relax, follow the lines, and enjoy the process.

Plus, you’ll have access to our Free Tips & Tricks eBook right after your purchase, offering plenty of helpful guidance to make the experience even more enjoyable!

This specific painting takes about 6 to 11 evenings, or roughly 9 to 15 hours in total. We count an evening as about an hour and a half, which is how long most people sit down for.

Your own pace matters more than the estimate. Bigger canvases take longer, more detailed designs take longer, and you may want to let one coat dry before adding another.
